Michael de Jager

South Africa was my home for 40 years, I was born in Durban...grew up surfing the east coast of Africa, got my first real six string in the summer of '69 and by the age of 12, was gigging with local bands as 'lead' guitarist. At 23 I was married - at night I studied Mechanical Engineering at Durban Technical College, my day job was a Mechanical/Architectural draughtsman for NCD (Clover Dairies). At 30, I was a first time dad, completed my Mechanical Engineering studies, was promoted to Project Technician at NCD. At 36, I designed & built a Live Entertainment venue called Cave Rock Café on the Bluff, Durban with my partner Cecil 'CJ' Jooste. We did this professionally for a few years and learnt a lot about being in the retail/live music business. At 43, I sold the business and moved to the UK, working as a Design Engineer for DESign in Wolverhampton. At 50, I changed career direction and became an IT Manager at SSI Schaefer in Andover, where I got my first Microsoft Certification in NAV - Core Setup & Finance. I went on to successfully coordinated and managed the installation and implementation of their Nav 2009 Classic Client. In 2011, I joined Evo-Soft in Swindon as Support Office Manager. A year later, I became a NAV Consultant for the first time with Sci-net in Oxford. Projects were mostly retail, which included a major UK flooring & carpeting retailer, and a large sofa retailer in Southampton. At Blue Rock in Southampton, I worked on a Manufacturing project in Poole and assisted on the support desk. In 2017, I joined KPMG's NAV practice, which was then known as Crimsonwing (now KPMG MBS) working on massive enterprise projects in Finance, Retail and Logistics as a consultant and as a developer, AL coding for Dynamics 365 Business Central on smaller UK projects. As a Solution Architect with a few good years of consulting project work successfully completed, I continue to learn new things on a daily basis.
